An Elk Grove taco bar has expanded into Sacramento, opening a location this month in Newton Booth.

West Coast Taco Bar is now operating at 1829 22nd St., offering only delivery and online orders to customers throughout Sacramento County. The storefront specializes in California-style Mexican food, according to its website.
“You’ll be able to order your favorite tacos, burritos, and West Coast flavors for pickup or delivery from our new 22nd Street location,” co-owner Cynthia Garcia wrote online. “No dining room. No waiting. Just fresh, bold flavors made to order and delivered straight to you.”
Garcia’s business first started as a food truck at SacYard Community Tap House and she said they were “well embraced” by the Sacramento community. But with SacYard getting a full-time truck, West Coast Taco Bar wanted to find business elsewhere. Because brick-and-mortar storefronts are costly, Garcia said the safest bet was to open a delivery-only location.
“I would say about 60% of our service here in Elk Grove is takeout,” Garcia said. “So it makes sense that if we were going to try to get back into that market, we take a less risky way to serve the community.”
West Coast Taco Bar touts on its website that it has the “best tacos in Sacramento County.” Cynthia Garcia owns it with her husband, Ivan Garcia.

Both husband and wife have culinary experience, with Cynthia Garcia spending 17 years working in the food industry. After serving in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years, Ivan Garcia joined the culinary industry as well.

The couple relocated to the Sacramento area from San Diego in 2019 to be closer to family, specifically Ivan Garcia’s sister who was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. When Cynthia Garcia arrived in Sacramento, she looked for chef jobs but wasn’t happy so instead, she decided to take her love for food into her own hands.
“That’s how all of it came together; I needed to do something and couldn’t keep doing what I was doing,” Garcia said. “We have inspiration from many years of working in different types of kitchens and just eating in different restaurants.”
West Coast Taco Bar serves classic taco flavors, including asada tacos and chicken adobado. The restaurant has a dish named after Garcia’s sister, who died during the COVID-19 pandemic. The dish is called the Dirty Diana, served with braised beef cooked with Garcia’s sister’s birria recipe on a mole tortilla, with melted Monterey Jack covered with tomatillo salsa, cilantro and marinated onion.
West Coast Taco Bar has soft opening hours for now, Garcia said, with operating hours expanding over time. Currently, the taco bar delivery hours are Tuesdays to Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Fridays from 5 p.m. to midnight.
