Two Woodland girls arrested after stolen forklift joyride damages park, police say

Two Woodland girls are being held in Yolo County Juvenile Hall after allegedly taking a stolen forklift for a joyride, Woodland police said Friday.

Reports of a forklift being driven through Woodland started coming in shortly after midnight Friday.

Callers from opposite ends of town reported seeing two girls operating the forklift, according to the Woodland Police Department. Officers responded to the reported locations but were unable to locate it.

Officers eventually located the forklift doing doughnuts at Ferns Park. They determined it had been stolen and used to flip over a concrete picnic table, damage a curb and tear up a section of grass.

The two girls were arrested on suspicion of theft and vandalism and booked into Yolo County Juvenile Hall, Woodland police said.
