Placer County’s coroner identified the victim as George Habeeb, a 47-year-old Roseville resident.

The crash happened about 9:06 p.m. at Baseline Road and Canyon Creek Drive, according to Sgt. Nick Gaines, a spokesperson for the Roseville Police Department.

Investigators said Habeeb was driving a white van that turned onto Baseline Road from Canyon Creek Drive when it collided in the intersection with a BMW traveling west on Baseline.

Habeeb died at the scene, Gaines said.

The driver of the BMW was taken to a hospital with injuries. Police did not release that person’s condition.

Gaines said the BMW driver was not under the influence of alcohol and that Roseville police’s major accident investigation team has taken over the investigation, which is standard protocol in fatal crashes.

The intersection was closed for several hours Sunday night but has since reopened.
