In what has been a rather quiet week for the Kansas City Chiefs, they spiced it up by signing free-agent DE Emmanuel Ogbah. Ogbah won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in his lone season with the team in 2019 before signing a four-year, $65.4 million deal with the Miami Dolphins that offseason. He had career highs of nine sacks in the first two seasons of that deal and spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The move gives the team insurance in case former first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah doesn’t take the job opposite of George Karlaftis and run with it. The Chiefs also took R Mason Thomas in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he has had growing pains in camp.
The Chiefs don’t have a sackmaster. DT Chris Jones led the team with seven sacks last season, and Karlaftis had six. It’s something they tried to address by taking DT Peter Woods in the first round and Thomas in the second. Ogbah’s arrival further supplements this need.

Ogbah’s deal is reportedly a one-year, $3.25 million deal. Now 32, and coming off one of his worst seasons as a pro, Ogbah should come motivated to rush the passer and add to his 47.5 career sacks.
