Indiana Fever Star Caitlin Clark Approaching First-Ever WNBA Milestone

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has already set plenty of records this season alone. Who could forget her 45-point, 10-assist performance against the Seattle Storm in July? After all, that was the first time in WNBA history that a player recorded a 40-point, 10-assist game.

At the beginning of the season, she also became the fastest WNBA player ever to record 1,000 points, 250 rebounds and 250 assists, needing only 54 games to do so.

More recently, Clark and Kelsey Mitchell set a new mark for the most points scored by a duo in a 10-game span with 516 points.

By the looks of it, however, Clark is on track to make more history by the end of the regular season. As ESPN Insights noted on Tuesday before the Fever’s game against the New York Liberty, the All-Star guard is on pace to become the first player in WNBA history to average 20 points and eight assists in a single campaign.

For what it’s worth, Clark further strengthened her bid to achieve that historic mark after finishing with 22 points and 10 assists in the Fever’s 106-92 win against the Liberty.

Clark improved her season averages to 21.7 points and 8.2 assists per game. She remains third in the league in scoring but is now tied with Alyssa Thomas for the lead in average assists.

With 11 games left in the season, it’s certainly looking more and more likely that Clark will become the first WNBA player with a 20-point, 8-assist season.
