Romeo Sanabria’s first taste of the Pacific Coast League didn’t go so well.
Maybe he’ll get another before the end of the season.
The 24-year-old doubled twice and drove in three runs on four hits while serving as the designated hitter in Double-A San Antonio’s 7-4 win at Frisco on Tuesday.

Ranked No. 28 in the Padres’ system by MLB.com, Sanabria was promoted to Triple-A El Paso for the first time in June and was hitting .200/.268/.307 with two homers and 12 RBIs in 21 games when he was sent back to San Antonio last week.
Tuesday was Sanabria’s first game back in any lineup since Aug. 5 with the Chihuahuas.
Sanabria is hitting .258/.353/.410 with eighth homers and 35 RBIs in 67 games with the Missions.
Left fielder Tirso Ornelas (.748 OPS) and center fielder Jake Cunningham (.829 OPS) both had two hits.
Right-hander Ian Koenig (5-9, 4.47 ERA) struck out four over seven shutout innings in the win. He scattered four hits and a walk.

Salt Lake 4, Chihuahuas 3: RHP David Morgan (6.14 ERA) struck out two and allowed a hit over a scoreless inning in his latest rehab appearance. Morgan, who was up to 98 mph in the appearance, is trying to return from left knee inflammation. LHP JP Sears (8.02 ERA) struck out five and allowed a run in three innings in the start. RHP Alek Jacob (5-5. 5.16 ERA) walked three and allowed two runs in the ninth in taking the loss. DH Ethan Salas (1.021 OPS) went 1-for-3 with an RBI. CF Bryce Johnson (.749 OPS) hit a triple and LF Dustin Harris (.966 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a walk.
HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (46-61)
Quad Cities 5, TinCaps 4: RHP Kannon Kemp (6.30 ERA) threw five innings of two-run ball in relief after LHP Luis Gutierrez (2.25 ERA) threw three shutout innings in his latest rehab start. RF Alex McCoy (.820 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits, including a double.
LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (59-50)
Storm 11, Inland Empire 10: 11th-rounder Chris McHugh, the DH, went 3-for-4, hit his first homer and doubled in his professional debut. 2B Joe Tiroly, the Padres’ seventh-rounder, also homered in a two-hit game in his debut. CF Qrey Lott (.797 OPS) hit his sixth homer. RHP Jesus A. Castro (3.96 ERA) allowed six runs in 2⅔ innings in the start.
ROOKIE DSL BROWN (10-32)
Padres 8, Athletics 1 (7): SS Dawry Guerrero (.675 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, a walk and two runs scored. LF Gabriel Teran (.977 OPS) went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored.
ROOKIE DSL GOLD (37-14)
Padres 2, Rays 0: LHP Carlos Alvarez (2-1, 3.25 ERA) walked two and allowed two hits over five shutout innings. He did not record a strikeout. Both C Dayquer Alfonzo (1.025 OPS) and 2B Darian Castillo (.882 OPS) had a triple. DH Johanneiker Leon (.613 OPS) went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a walk.
