Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington has received a lot of negative publicity after her white privilege tweet last weekend. Although Carrington explained last Monday that it was not about her ejection from their game against the Indiana Fever, nor was it about Sophie Cunningham, with whom she had the altercation, not many believe her.

Veteran sports analyst Jason Whitlock didn’t say he believed DiJonai’s explanation or not. But he blamed the likes of Carrington as the reason why Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James did not want his daughter to play women’s basketball.
“Months ago, LeBron James quietly told America why he doesn’t want his own daughter anywhere near women’s basketball. He said his daughter Zhuri is playing volleyball, not basketball. LeBron James has courtside access to this sport that no other father in America has. He’s watched what happens to young women who climb to the top of basketball culture,” said Whitlock on his show, “Fearless.”
Whitlock does not buy LeBron’s story about why Zhuri is playing volleyball instead of basketball
The 11-year-old Zhuri currently plays competitive volleyball for the City Volleyball Club based in Southern California, which competes in leagues like the SoCal Cup League, local Junior Volleyball Association events, and AAU tournaments.
However, LeBron never said that he banned Zhuri from playing basketball. Instead, James said in an interview last March that it was Savannah who said enough of basketball because LeBron and their two sons are already in the sport. But Bron also said that he is throwing full support for Zhuri’s volleyball journey just as he did for Bronny and Bryce in basketball.
But Whitlock does not buy Bron’s explanation.

“Publicly, this is about volleyball, her talent, her own path. I don’t believe a man who spent decades inside professional sports misses what basketball did to DiJonai Carrington. He doesn’t want his daughter to become Darren Carrington’s daughter. He doesn’t want Zhuri angry. He doesn’t want her buried under a persona built by the league that profits off her rage. He wants Venus and Serena Williams, the father’s dream version. And when the greatest player of this generation looks at his own sport and steers his daughter somewhere else, that tells you everything about where women’s basketball stands right now,” he explained.

Whitlock says Stanford influenced Carrington’s ideology and turned her into a different person
The reason why Whitlock claims James doesn’t want Zhuri to become like DiJonai is that he believes that Carrington was every father’s dream before she entered a predominantly left-leaning school in Stanford. He says that’s where DiJonai got her current ideologies and these beliefs were reinforced in the WNBA, resulting in a flawed finished product.
“Stanford, in a transfer year at Baylor, put something else into DiJonai Carrington besides discipline. That Stanford campus is one of the most far-left institutions in this country. She spent four years marinating in it before the WNBA ever got its hands on her. The league did not create the ideology; Stanford planted the seed. The league just watered it down and put it on national television.”
“Now, let’s look at DiJonai Carrington in the NBA. Different person, not just physically but spiritually as well. The joy is gone. The gratitude is gone. What’s left is grievance, anger, looking for a microphone. Compare her Stanford face to her WNBA presentation. You see a woman who’s buried the person she used to be under layers of make-up, fake eyelashes, hair dye, reinventing the outside because something happened in the inside,” he added.
Looking at DiJonai , there’s a night-and-day difference in the way she looks today from when she was still at Stanford. But to say that she looks different now because she has a different set of beliefs is just Jason’s assumption, just as his theory that LeBron doesn’t want Zhuri to play basketball because he doesn’t want his only daughter brainwashed by a league Whitlock considers a woke league.
