A player in Los Angeles, California, won a $1.4 million prize in the Monday, Aug. 10, drawing with five winning numbers but not the Powerball.

The last Powerball jackpot of more than $1 billion was won on December 24, 2025, when a single ticket in Arkansas won a $1.82 billion prize.

The highest Powerball jackpot ever recorded is $2.04 billion, won on November 7, 2022, by a single ticket holder in California. It stands as the largest lottery prize in global history.

How to play Powerball lottery game

To score a jackpot in Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

Powerball drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.

The next drawing will be Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
