Already missing key pieces of their starting lineup, the Athletics took another hit on Sunday when outfielder Tyler Soderstrom (hip) landed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Saturday.

Soderstrom, 24, is dealing with a left hip impingement and joins Shea Langeliers, Brent Rooker and Nick Kurtz on the IL. In a corresponding move, the Athletics recalled shortstop Darell Hernaiz from Triple-A Las Vegas.
In his fourth season in the majors, all with the Athletics, Soderstrom is hitting .245 with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs in 109 games after posting career highs with 25 home runs and 93 RBIs last season. Overall, the A’s first-round pick (No. 26 overall) in the 2020 draft is a .249 hitter with 56 home runs and 182 RBIs in 373 games.

Hernaiz, 25, is hitting .237 with one homer and seven RBIs in 47 games with the A’s this season. Over parts of three seasons with the team, he is a .221 hitter with four homers and 35 RBIs in 146 games.
