A few weeks ago, the 2026 Summer League wrapped in Las Vegas the way it usually does. A fresh batch of prospects made some noise. A few of them even did it in the same jersey.

So does that mean any of those teams has a real shot at being the best Summer League roster ever assembled?
Ask Gilbert Arenas and the answer is probably no. After all, the three-time All-Star has had his own untouchable pick for years. Agent Zero has even brought it up more than once.
Arenas fired back at Kyle Kuzma’s claim
One time, Gil brought it up right after Kyle Kuzma made his own case. On the “White Noise” podcast, Kuzma explained why he believes his former Los Angeles Lakers squad still sits above everybody else.
Kuzma then ran through the roster that dominated the 2017 version of the tournament. He mentioned Lonzo Ball. Brandon Ingram. Josh Hart. Ivica Zubac. Thomas Bryant. Alex Caruso.
“We sold out Thomas & Mack every game, like it was a movie,” added the Milwaukee Bucks forward.
So many of those guys have since become staples around the league. That said, Kuzma’s argument isn’t easy to dismiss. Arenas, for his part, tried anyway.
He grabbed his phone, recorded a selfie video and fired back at a post showing some of those Lakers players alongside Kuzma’s quote. Arenas had his very own pick for the throne.

Was Agent Zero exposed?
Gil went back to the 2001 Summer League,

“a- whoopings.”
That was, he said, until they ran into a team that was simply better. A team that allegedly made his own side lose by 50 points.
“It was them godda- knuckleheads that had Darius Miles, Quentin Richardson, Keyon Dooling, Lamar Odom, Corey Maggette, Elton f-ing Brand, all on one team,” Arenas said.
“They beat the dog s-t out of us. So, yeah, they would be the best,” he added.
Agent Zero also claimed that the exact Los Angeles Clippers group would go on to be “starters in the NBA” once the regular season tipped off a few months later.

“dragged through that court”
It all sounds impressive. Until somebody actually checks the math. That’s exactly what the YouTube channel Heat Check did in a video
Their conclusion was blunt. Arenas was mostly making things up. There were plenty of inconsistencies in his recollection of the game and the roster the 11-year-NBA veteran mentioned.
For instance, contemporary ESPN coverage of the 2001 Pyramid Summer League only lists Richardson from the group Arenas named. Odom. Maggette. Brand. None of them, the narrator says in the video, played on a Summer League team.
Ultimately, everyone can do their own research here. But it’s worth remembering Gil loves to stretch the truth.
