If you didn’t already think Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong was the real deal, PCA made quite the statement Monday night. Playing their rivals from the South Side, the Chicago White Sox, Crow-Armstrong led off the bottom of the first inning with his 29th home run. The game went into extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th, PCA ended it with a walk-off shot.

In addition to becoming the first player in Cubs history to lead off a game with a home run and end the game with a home run, he also notched his second straight 30-30 season. Some sportsbooks have PCA ahead of Shohei Ohtani as the favorite to win NL MVP. Crow-Armstrong is batting .281 with 30 homers, 78 RBIs, 89 runs scored and 31 stolen bases. Ohtani is hitting .295 with 29 homers, 78 RBIs and 81 runs scored. Ohtani’s only got seven stolen bases. Of course, even though he’s currently taking a break from pitching, Ohtani is 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA on the season.
