A northern California-founded chain of Yemeni coffee houses is opening a new location near a popular Sacramento-area mall.

Sana’a Cafe is launching a storefront at 1749 Arden Way close to Arden Fair Mall. The store will open in early September, according to Sana’a Cafe’s staff.
TJ Singh, the director of acquisitions at Sana’a Cafe, said the new cafe is part of the franchise’s expansion efforts. He said that because of the proximity to Arden Fair Mall, the location should draw plenty of foot traffic.
“We thought it was a great fit because it’s right by the freeway,” Singh said. “We want to have a little bit more presence in the Sacramento area.”
The store replaces Peet’s Coffee, which closed in January.
Sana’a Cafe serves an assortment of coffee, including espresso, adeni tea, chai, and traditional Yemeni roasts. The cafe’s dessert menu offers pistachio milk cake, rose milk cake, Turkish delight, chicken fatayet, and honeycomb cake.

Named after the city in Yemen, Singh said the coffee shop will provide a soothing atmosphere, open for everyone, including college students looking for a place to study and friends to gather. There’s no need to rush while at Sana’a Cafe, he added.
“We’re converting into more of a coffee lounge,” Singh said. “…it’s where people can come to relax.”
Sana’a Cafe began in San Francisco in 2023. Since then, the franchise has opened 16 locations in California and one in Washington. There are two locations in the Sacramento area, one downtown at 901 K St. and one in Elk Grove at 9135 W Stockton Blvd.
While the cafe’s hours are to be determined, Singh said they will try to stick to their typical late hours. Most, but not all, Sana’a Cafes operate from 6:00 a.m. to midnight.
