Police remain at a Lodi McDonald’s restaurant Monday afternoon where officers shot and wounded a gunman who opened fire inside the eatery Monday morning.

Police called to a disturbance at the McDonald’s in the 200 block of West Lodi Avenue heard gunshots and screaming as they approached the restaurant, the Lodi News-Sentinel reported.
An armed man was reportedly threatening employees and customers inside the restaurant before opening fire, police told the Lodi newspaper. Officers made their way inside and at least one fired their weapon.

Lodi Police Department, in a social media post, said San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office and California Department of Justice will join Lodi police in the shooting investigation, still in its preliminary stages.
The area of Lodi Avenue and Church Street remained closed for several hours as investigators worked. Police advised people to avoid the area.
