Authorities on Monday continued their search for a missing Roseville man who was last seen Friday morning after going hiking and whose vehicle was found at a park near Auburn State Recreation Area in Placer County.

Ian Roberts, 24, was last seen about 9:45 a.m. Friday. He was reported missing to the Roseville Police Department about 4:45 a.m. Saturday after Roberts did not return home the previous night.
With help from Roberts’ family, authorities found his vehicle at the Overlook Park parking lot in Auburn. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said Roberts was known to be in the Overlook Park area during the mid-morning hours on Friday.
Overlook Park offers a view of the American River Canyon, and the Auburn Skate Park also is located there, according to the Auburn Recreation District. Overlook Park also has access to walking trails that will enter the canyon.
Roberts is 6 feet tall and weighs 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt, dark-colored shorts and gray shoes.
The third day of the search for Roberts resumed Monday with about 100 search and rescue personnel working to find him, the Sheriff’s Office said in its latest update.

Investigators determined Roberts, on Friday, went for a hike in the area and did not return, which prompted the search and rescue effort, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said conditions on Monday were expected to be a challenge to the search effort with temperatures expected to be about five degrees warmer than Sunday with high temperatures in the mid-90’s.
Along with Placer County authorities and California State Parks officials, search and rescue teams from El Dorado, Sacramento, Yuba, Napa, Santa Clara, Solano, Marin, Contra Costa, Tuolumne and San Mateo counties have joined the search effort.
“We are incredibly grateful to the many search and rescue professionals and volunteers who have traveled from throughout the region and are working tirelessly in the field to bring Ian home,” sheriff’s officials said.
