An Antioch man who drove for Amazon when he beat a 71-year-old man inside an Elk Grove gas station in an attack captured on video that later went viral will return to Sacramento Superior Court to face felony charges in the attack.

Terrence McQueen Wheeler, 30, faces felony elder abuse, felony criminal threats and misdemeanor battery charges at a Sept. 24 hearing stemming from the March 30 attack at a Sheldon Road Arco AM-PM. Elk Grove police said Wheeler was angry because the man pulled into a parking space where Wheeler intended to park.
Surveillance video inside the store showed Wheeler, wearing his Amazon uniform, closely following the man and telling him, “I’ll beat your ass,” before knocking him to the floor with a punch to the back of the head.
Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee now represents the man, now 72, whom Buzbee’s firm identified as an auditor of agricultural and animal production facilities.
The man was driving from Lodi to a hotel near Sacramento International Airport when he stopped at the gas station to buy a soft drink, according to Buzbee’s office.

The man briefly followed the Amazon delivery van to try to read its license plate number before returning to the store where employees reviewed footage of the attack and called Elk Grove police, the law firm stated.
The man, who travels across the country for his job, had been fitted with a pacemaker following a 2024 heart attack, and had recently returned to work, according to the firm.
Wheeler no longer drives for Amazon.
“The driver in question was working for an independent business that contracts with Amazon to deliver packages to our customers when this incident occurred,” Amazon officials said Tuesday. “After investigating this incident months ago, we shared with this business that the driver was no longer eligible to deliver Amazon packages.”
Elk Grove police identified and contacted Wheeler during their investigation. Wheeler later turned himself in to police and was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges connected to the attack.
