Folsom and Winters were the Sacramento region’s fastest growing cities between 2024 and 2025, according to new population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday. Both cities grew at a rate of 4.1% compared to the previous year.

Other cities experiencing significant growth were Wheatland, with 3.3% population growth, Rancho Cordova (3.1%), Roseville (2.3%) and Lincoln (2.2%).
The figures are as of July 1, 2025, and only include incorporated cities and towns.
Sacramento, the region’s largest city, is estimated to have grown 0.3%.
Cities in the six-county Sacramento region with declines in estimated population include Isleton, down by 0.5%; and Citrus Heights, Davis and Live Oak, which all declined by about 0.4%.

The fastest growing town or city in California was Paradise, recovering from the 2018 Camp Fire that leveled most of the town, with a year-over-year increase of 8.1%
In the five-year period since the 2020 Census, Winters has seen the most population growth in the Sacramento region at 15.6%. Other cities with double-digit estimated growth during that time include Lincoln, Wheatland, Folsom, Roseville and Rancho Cordova.
