A staff member at a Carmichael K-8 school was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning in the school parking lot and taken for medical care, according to California Highway Patrol logs and school district officials.

The collision was reported about 7:30 a.m. at Starr King K-8 School, 4848 Cottage Way. The CHP classified the crash on its incident log as a vehicle striking a pedestrian and described the staff member’s injuries as minor.
Firefighters responded and took the victim to Mercy San Juan Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and San Juan Unified School District spokesperson Raj Rai said.

Rai said the person was a school staff member but not a teacher. Shee did not have additional information about the staff member’s condition.
The collision occurred about a half-hour before classes started.
