Sacramento Regional Transit will suspend Blue Line light rail service between four south Sacramento stations this weekend as crews continue work to accommodate the agency’s new low-floor trains.

Trains will not operate Saturday and Sunday between the Broadway and Fruitridge light rail stations, located in the Curtis Park and North City Farms neighborhoods, respectively.
Light rail service will continue between the Watt/I-80 and Broadway stations in the north and between the Fruitridge and Cosumnes River College stations in the south. Shuttle buses will provide a bus bridge serving the Broadway, Fourth Avenue/Wayne Hultgren, City College and Fruitridge stations.
The more than 2-mile section of track will be shut down for platform-grinding work at the Fourth Avenue/Wayne Hultgren and City College stations. The stations and that section of track will be completely closed during the work.

The stations were initially scheduled to be closed during the first few days of C.K. McClatchy High School’s fall semester, but construction wrapped up a day before classes began.
The construction will raise the platforms 8 inches to accommodate the new S700 low-floor light rail vehicles. The new trains, which began operating on the Gold Line in fall 2024, allow passengers to board at platform level and include buttons to deploy ramps for riders with mobility aids.
