It started in Week 16, when the Seahawks beat the Rams in an overtime victory at Lumen Field. They beat them again in the NFC Championship Game before going on to win the Super Bowl.
That stretch of dominance clearly left a mark on Los Angeles, as General Manager Les Snead and Head Coach Sean McVay responded this offseason by putting together a roster haul for the ages.
The Seahawks Have Been Watching
Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori captured the moment best, posting Sunday night: “All this just for us,” adding a laughing and salute emoji.
It’s easy to see why. The first thing the Rams did was shore up the secondary, the unit that cost them a trip to the Super Bowl, as Sam Darnold carved them up for nearly 350 yards and three touchdowns in that NFC title game. They started by sending several draft picks to the Kansas City Chiefs for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie, then signed his former teammate, veteran cornerback Jaylen Watson, as well.
With the secondary fixed, the Rams turned their attention to the pass rush, and they shocked the world, sending budding star Jared Verse and three draft picks to the Cleveland Browns for reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, fresh off breaking the single-season sack record.

Those two blockbusters alone would have made for a loaded roster. Add in reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, superstar receiver Puka Nacua (who has

Then came the finishing touch. Aaron Donald made it official, coming out of retirement to join the Rams’ 2026 Super Bowl run and push their championship odds even higher.
The Seahawks made moves of their own, but nothing on that scale. They gave All-Pro standouts Jaxon Smith-Njigba and cornerback Devon Witherspoon massive contract extensions, then re-signed receiver Rashid Shaheed and special teams captain Brady Russell, an emphasis on keeping the roster together rather than reshaping it. That’s a common approach for a defending champion, but one that doesn’t come close to matching the Rams’ moves.
Now the wait begins.
The teams will meet for the first time this season in Week 16 on Christmas Day, giving Emmanwori and his teammates their first look at the new-look Rams, and a chance to see whether all that spending pays off against them.
