Lourdes Gurriel Jr. tripled to drive in the go-ahead run in the 11th, Ketel Marte capped a two-run inning with a sacrifice fly, and the Arizona Diamondbacks extended their winning streak to four with a 5-3, 11-inning victory over the host Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

Gurriel split the gap in right-center with a deep fly to drive in automatic runner Ildemaro Vargas, and Marte followed with his fly to left as the D-backs (78-68) moved a season-high nine-plus games over .500.
The Diamondbacks are 33-21 since July 9, the best record in the National League.
Tim Tawa homered in the ninth to give the D-backs a 2-0 lead, but John Rave hit a two-out, 409-foot homer off Juan Morillo to tie it at 2-2. Morillo had a 19-game scoreless streak broken.
Tawa singled in the go-ahead run in the 10th before Vinny Pasquantino tied it with a sacrifice fly in the last of the inning. Tawa made a diving catch on the ball in right-center.
Blake Walston (1-0) left the bases loaded in the 10th and retired all three he faced in the 11th.
The D-backs used seven pitchers for the second straight game after a 5-4, 10-inning win Monday.
Tawa had three hits and two RBIs and Lars Nootbaar had two hits.
Marte scored the game’s first run in the eighth, when he singled off Connor Thomas, took third on Gabriel Moreno’s single and scored on Geraldo Perdomo’s sacrifice fly.

Arizona starter Corbin Burnes gave up two hits in three scoreless innings in his first appearance since June 1, 2025, and four Diamondbacks relievers limited the Royals to three singles in the next five innings before the Royals rallied in the ninth. Burnes walked two and struck out two.
Marte has hit safely in all seven games since rejoining the team from the injured list Aug. 31.
The D-backs remained in the third National League wild-card spot, behind Philadelphia (81-64) and the Chicago Cubs (81-65).
Michael Massey had two hits for the Royals (64-82), who have lost seven of their last nine after a 13-2 stretch.
Kansas City starter Michael Wacha gave up three hits, all singles, in six scoreless innings in his American League-leading 20th quality start. He walked four and struck out four.
