When basketball fans discuss the pre-eminent scorers of today’s NBA, players like Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are almost always the first to be mentioned. It’s completely understandable, too, considering that SGA has won back-to-back MVP awards while Luka led the league in scoring last season.

However, a glance at the last six seasons shows that when it comes to lethal, efficient, and consistent scoring from all over the court, nobody has done it better than Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic.
Over the mentioned time frame, the Joker has averaged 26.9 points per game on 58.3 percent shooting, including 37.8 percent from long distance and 82.4 percent from the charity stripe. He has also been a willing passer, averaging 9.3 assists per game.
Curiously, when asked which player he has had a tough time scoring on, Jokic responded that everyone in the NBA has made it difficult for him to get buckets.
The NBA has lots of good defenders
Jokic’s rotund physique and chill demeanor might not remind anybody of vicious competitors like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. But make no mistake: He’s more than willing and plenty capable of dropping 50 points on any defense. At the same time, he clarifies that scoring in the NBA is a lot harder than people think.
“Everyone. Well, how should I say? There are some teams that really defend well as a team, very well as a team. You have some defenders who are really good, very good defenders,” Jokic
“But really, maybe those against whom we play a bit more. For example, Zubac guards me very well. When we played Portland last season, Nurkic is very good for me. I guess they are a bit bulky, so, you know, when we push, I can’t move them that much.”
“Rudy Gobert – I know people think now that Rudy Gobert is a serious defender because, well, this last playoff showed that he really, that he really played some really good defense throughout the playoffs. Even though I’ve had some really good games against him in history, but I really think he is a good defender,” he added.

A high-quality league
What makes the NBA stand out from other professional leagues worldwide is the quality of the players on every roster. Some players may not get as much shine, but they’re very capable of getting the job done if and when given the opportunity.
“Who else is there? Jalen Duren from Detroit. He’s kind of small. He’s tricky for me. He’s good,” Jokic continued. “Wendell Carter Jr. from Orlando. Well, he’s also a small, small center who is good, you know, a shot blocker. My goodness, he swats shots.”
“They are really, really all good. Everyone. I think the league is very talented, both offensively and defensively. Well, Oklahoma, the whole Oklahoma team. I mean, Wemby, Victor,” the Joker conveyed. “So, I think it’s a very high-quality, a very high-quality league, defensively and offensively.”
It’s difficult to take Jokic’s comments about his matchups being tricky when he’s dropping 30 a night on anybody who stands between him and the basket; it’s another classic Joker moment, insisting that everyone gives him problems while at the same time dominating the NBA.
