Jerry Jones Shares Personal Wish After Major Roster Moves

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have gone without a Super Bowl title for 30 years. Barry Switzer was the last head coach to win the Lombardi trophy with the Cowboys, as Dallas defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 in Super Bowl XXX on January 28, 1996. Brian Schottenheimer, with the help of quarterback Dak Prescott, offensive coordinator Klayton Adams and defensive coordinator Christian Parker, looks to replicate Switzer’s success in 2026.

Adams will have an easier job to handle, as the Prescott-led offense was on fire during the 2025 season. There were three obvious standouts on offense: Prescott, George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb. Prescott threw for 4,552 yards and 30 touchdowns, while Lamb and Pickens recorded 1,077 and 1,429 receiving yards, respectively. This helped the Cowboys score 471 points over the course of the 2025 season, the seventh-highest total in the NFL.

However, the defense was on the other side of the spectrum. It allowed 511 points during the season, the worst in the league. Therefore, Schottenheimer and Parker will have their work cut out for them. What will make life more difficult for both of them is the introduction of so many new faces to the roster.

Jones and the Cowboys have significantly improved the defense. Micah Parsons’ blockbuster trade to the Green Bay Packers started it all. The Cowboys then added multiple defensive reinforcements such as Caleb Downs, Von Miller and Rashan Gary as they look to build a more well-rounded unit.

Jones has one wish after making multiple changes heading into the 2026 NFL season. Speaking on “105.3 The Fan,” Jones

“Because if it is, then we’re going to have better field position. The offense is going to be better,” he added.

The offense was the star of the show for the Cowboys during the 2025 season; however, if the team needs to make a deep postseason run, the defense has to gel and step up to the plate.
