How Did Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman Meet?
Rodman and Shelton have kept some details about how they first met private. However, Rodman has revealed one important detail about the beginning of their relationship.
The soccer star made the first move by sending Shelton a direct message on Instagram. According to Rodman, she reached out to the tennis player through DMs before the two started dating.
The 24-year-old Rodman jokingly recalled that their relationship began after she messaged him with “You’re sick, fire emoji,” to which he responded within 10 minutes.

Their relationship became public in March 2025 when Shelton shared photos on social media that included a picture of the two together. Rodman later shared a post of her own, making their relationship official.

Since then, the NWSL star has attended several of Shelton’s matches and has been one of his biggest supporters during his run at the 2026 US Open.
She was in the stands for his quarterfinal win over defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and also attended his semifinal against Frances Tiafoe.
Shelton will now face Alexander Zverev in the US Open final on Sunday as he aims to become the first American man since Andy Roddick in 2003 to win a Grand Slam singles title.
