Why Josh Allen Is Set Up for a Huge 2026 Campaign
Allen’s Week 1 performance carried extra weight because of his history in Houston. Before Sunday, Buffalo had not won at Houston since 2006, and Allen had gone 0-4 in Houston, including the playoffs. He finally changed that with one of his biggest performances of the young season.
The manner in which he secured the win was even more impressive. Houston took a 31-30 lead with 3:13 remaining, but Allen responded with a 96-yard drive. He connected with Joshua Palmer for a 34-yard touchdown with 1:36 left on the clock. That was Allen’s 26th regular-season game-winning drive, the most among active quarterbacks.
The Bills now host the Detroit Lions on Thursday, at 8:15 p.m. ET, marking the first regular-season game at the new Highmark Stadium. Detroit also won its opener, beating New Orleans 31-30 in overtime.
