A college soccer player and aspiring nurse has died at 19 years old.
Isabella “Izzy” Sause, a sophomore on the Georgia College & State University women’s soccer team, passed away. She died following a battle with cancer. She had been diagnosed with cancer.
Sause was studying for a pre-nursing degree at Georgia College & State University while continuing her cancer treatment. She hoped to be a nurse one day. Sause dreamed of helping children facing serious illnesses.
“Izzy was always a beaming light of positivity and saw the best in any situation,” Georgia College women’s soccer head coach Jack Marchant said. “She was and always will be an integral part of our group, and we know she will always be a Bobcat and be with us.”
The school announced her death on social media.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Izzy passed away on Sunday morning surrounded by her family and loved ones. Izzy brought out the best in anyone she ever encountered and was a ray of sunshine on the cloudiest day. She will be deeply missed by everyone associated with GCSU Soccer. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat 🟢🔵,” they wrote.

A team photographer and friend spoke out on social media.
“To know Izzy—even just through a camera lens—was to see what absolute resilience and pure joy look like. Facing cancer as a teenager never soured her love for life, her team, or the game. Instead, she chose to be the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines, celebrating every goal with unmatched energy and a smile that lit up the pitch. She leaves us with the ultimate lesson: to find joy in every moment, to embrace life fully, and to celebrate others fiercely. Thank you for showing us how it’s done, Izzy. Your light keeps shining. 💚💙,” he wrote.
“Much love to the Sause family and all who are hurting from the loss of this incredibly special young woman.”

A memorial is scheduled for Sept. 18 at Graystone Church on Ozora Road in Loganville. There will be a visitation beginning at 3 p.m., followed by the service at 5 p.m.
