Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills entered Thursday night’s matchup against the Detroit Lions looking to move to 2-0 and build on their comeback victory over the Houston Texans. Buffalo opened its NFL season with a 36-31 road win and now faces a Detroit team that also won its opener, beating the New Orleans Saints 31-30 in overtime.

The Bills had already dealt with several injury questions heading into their first Thursday Night Football game of the season. Running back Ty Johnson, safety Cole Bishop and defensive lineman T.J. Sanders were listed as questionable, but Buffalo otherwise entered the game in relatively good health.
Buffalo suffered another setback just before kickoff. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver injured his hip during warm-ups and was ruled out of the game, according to the Bills. He was subsequently listed among Buffalo’s inactive players for the matchup with Detroit.
Oliver was not listed on Buffalo’s initial injury report heading into the game. He had also played more than 80% of the defensive snaps in the season opener against Houston, recording five tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery.

Oliver’s absence leaves Buffalo without one of its most experienced interior defensive linemen against a Lions offense that ran for 165 yards in its season opener. The Bills will have to adjust their defensive rotation after losing Oliver only minutes before the game.
The Bills and Lions kicked off Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. ET at Highmark Stadium, with Allen looking to lead the team to its first win at their new home.
