Car seats, walkers and other baby gear sold at Target have been recalled due to choking hazards and the risk of serious injury from falls.

The recalled products were sold in stores and online at Target.com.

“Our guests, your safety, is our highest priority,” Target officials said on the company’s website. “For this reason, we maintain a comprehensive list of our recalled products.”

Here’s what California families need to know about the recalled products:

Infant car seats sold at Target recalled

Target recently listed recalls for a total of four products geared toward babies and young children.

On Aug. 20, Target listed a recall involving several Britax B-Safe infant car seats and travel systems.

A screw in the child seat’s carrying handle can come loose, causing the handle to partially detach. If that happens, a child could fall and be injured.

The problem does not affect the car seat’s safety performance when it is properly secured in a vehicle or attached to a stroller, according to the recall notice.

“The remedy is currently under development,” Target said on its website.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by Oct. 19.

Teething toy recalled due to choking hazard

Target listed a recall for the HABA Rainbow Rattle Grasping and Teething Toy on Aug. 27.

The glued knot on the toy’s elastic cord can become untied, allowing young children to access small wooden and plastic pieces.

The pieces pose a choking and ingestion hazard that could result in “serious injury or death,” according to Target.

The recalled toy has the following product details:

• Name: HABA Rainbow Rattle Grasping and Teething Toy
• Online item number: 1010119137
• Model/lot number: 2012261001/0925
• Retail price: $12.99

What should I do if I bought recalled rattle?

“Consumers should stop using the rattle grasping and teething toy immediately, take it away from children and contact HABA USA to receive a full refund,” Target said on its website.

Consumers are asked to cut the elastic cord, take a photo of the destroyed toy and upload it, along with their name and address, to [email protected].

You should then dipose of the destroyed toy.

Infant walkers recalled for ‘deadly fall hazard’

Target also listed a recall for several Kmaier infant walkers on Aug. 27.

The walkers violate the mandatory federal safety standard for infant walkers, because they can fit through a standard doorway and can fail to stop at the edge of a step.

This poses a “deadly fall hazard,” according to Target.

The recalled products are:

The walkers each retailed for $69.99.

I bought recalled baby gear. What should I do next?

Consumers should stop using the recalled walkers immediately and contact Kmaier for a full refund, according to Target.

You’ll need to disassemble the walker, cut the fabric seat and write “recalled” in permanent marker on the top of the tray.

You must then send a photo of the destroyed walker to [email protected] and dispose of the product.

Recall issued for fire truck-themed activity board

On Thursday, Sept. 17, Target listed a recall for the Lights and Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board made by Melissa & Doug.

The toy’s fire hose port can come loose and detach, creating a choking hazard.

The recalled product has the following details:

• Target item number: 204-06-6479
• Online item number: 93554021
• Retail price: $29.99

“Consumers should stop using the fire truck activity board immediately,” Target said.

Can I get a refund for recalled Melissa & Doug product?

Manufacturing company Melissa and Doug is offering a free replacement activity board, a $30 refund by check or a $40 store credit.

If you bought a recalled activity board, register online and follow the recall instructions at melissaanddoug.com/recall.

You will be asked to remove the batteries, mark the front of the toy with “recall” and a unique code provided during registration, cut off the black hose and upload a photo of the destroyed product.

After the registration is confirmed, dispose of the toy in the trash.
