Chop Robinson is inching closer to returning.
The third-year pass rusher has advanced in concussion protocol, Miami Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley announced.

Robinson was not wearing a red no-contact jersey, according to South Florida Sun Sentinel reporter David Furones. Instead, he wore the normal aqua jersey.
That likely means Robinson is in the final stages of concussion protocol. Every player who enters concussion protocol must clear a mandatory five-step return-to-play process before being cleared for full contact or game participation. One step is completing a full-contact practice before being cleared by the club physician and, separately, by an independent, jointly approved neurologist.
Miami needs Robinson to return to help its struggling pass rush
Robinson, 23, initially suffered the concussion on Sept. 16 while the Dolphins were practicing in California ahead of their game against the San Francisco 49ers. He was limited that day, then missed the next two practices and the Week 2 game.
This was the third known concussion Robinson has suffered since being drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He suffered two last season, which kept him out of two games.

The 2026 season is critical for Robinson, who has had an uneven career so far. After a promising rookie season that ended with six sacks, Robinson’s numbers plummeted in nearly every category in 2025. He finished that year with four sacks, 21 tackles and one forced fumble in 15 games.
After the 2026 season, the Dolphins will have until next May to decide whether to exercise Robinson’s fifth-year option for 2028. According to Over the Cap, Robinson’s fifth-year option is projected at around $16.5 million, making it difficult to see Miami exercising it.
In his only game of the 2026 season, Robinson finished with one combined tackle and zero sacks. Miami is the only team in the league that has not registered a sack through its first two games.
