Deion Sanders has reached his breaking point with Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis.

Lewis, a former four-star recruit, came into this season with lofty expectations after finishing his freshman campaign with 589 yards and four touchdowns. Although his production this fall may seem fine (658 passing yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions), most of his success came against Weber State. He struggled mightily in last week’s 41-7 loss against Northwestern.
After watching Lewis complete 11 of 16 passes for 75 yards in the first half against Baylor, Coach Prime made the decision to bench him in favor of Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of NFL quarterback Zach Wilson.
“Colorado has benched Julian Lewis. Hard to argue with the decision,” Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports said. “This offense has been horrible against every P4 team it’s seen so far.”
“Juju doesn’t look like a starter in a good conference,” one fan said. “Hope the change works.”

“They need a spark but this is such a bad sign of where the program is at,” a second fan commented.
The pressure is on Deion Sanders.
After finishing the 2025 season with an underwhelming 3-9 record, Sanders promised Colorado fans that he’d be better in 2026.
“I’m not happy with nothing right now,” Sanders said. “I don’t think it’s a motivation thing as it’s more a part of life. This fan base, the school, Rick (Georgie)… everybody deserves better than this, and they expected better than this. I expected to be much better than this and we’re going to give them much better than this…starting tomorrow.”
Well, it might get worse for Colorado before it gets better. Coach Prime’s program is set to face No. 11 Texas. No. 15 Utah and Oklahoma State over the next three weeks.
