Loomis prepares for annual Fruit Shed Festival celebrating local history

Loomis’ agricultural past will take center stage Saturday as the historic Blue Goose Fruit Shed opens its doors for the 2026 Fruit Shed Festival, a daylong celebration of local makers, food, entertainment and community life.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can wander among local vendors, community organizations, food and drink offerings, live entertainment and family activities in downtown Loomis.

A new addition this year will take festival goers inside the historic Blue Goose Fruit Shed.

Blue Goose Produce, The Gander Taphouse and the local artist behind Mandala Candles will host an Apple Days Market, bringing local goods and activities into a space closely tied to Loomis’ agricultural history.

Back outside, the festival will feature its usual mix of things to see and do, including the Food Court Zone, Kids Zone, local vendors and live entertainment.

Community contests will return as well, including the annual Chalk Art Contest, where the pavement becomes a temporary canvas.

For those looking for information on the basics at the event, look for the Little House of Eggplant. The longtime Fruit Shed Fest fixture serves as the festival’s information hub, with event information, merchandise, lost and found, and assistance for visitors throughout the day.

The festival is produced by the Loomis Basin Chamber of Commerce with help from local businesses, community partners, sponsors and volunteers.
