Drivers should expect delays for about five weeks on a section of northbound I-5 south of Elk Grove, where the highway will be reduced to one lane for pavement repairs on weeknights beginning Thursday, Caltrans officials said.

The pavement repairs will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday until June 30 with traffic control, according to a Thursday news release from Caltrans District 3.
Crews will repair 19 locations between Lambert Road and an area south of Twin Cities Road near Mokelumne City, Caltrans said.
The repairs are part of a $1.5 million emergency pavement repair project, District 3 officials said.

Caltrans said the work will include saw cutting, roadway excavation, paving and restriping.
The speed limit in construction zones is 55 miles per hour in California. Motorists were encouraged to plan for additional travel time because of expected traffic delays, according to Caltrans.
