New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) appears unlikely to make his debut as soon as the club first hoped. Tyson will become eligible to return to practice after Monday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, but head coach Kellen Moore did not indicate that a practice-window opening was imminent.

Locked On Saints host Ross Jackson said Moore answered “not at the moment” when asked whether Tyson was expected back at practice next week, while leaving open the possibility that the timetable could change.
The four-game injured reserve threshold creates an opportunity to begin Tyson’s ramp-up, not a requirement that he immediately return to the field.
Jackson pointed to Tyson’s Aug. 13 hamstring injury and the initial two-month timeline as reasons to expect a more deliberate return. If that estimate referred to a return to practice rather than game action, Tyson could remain sidelined beyond the minimum absence while the Saints prioritize keeping him available once he is activated.
The wait matters because Tyson was drafted to give quarterback Tyler Shough another matchup-winning option alongside receivers Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele. Jackson identified Tyson’s ability on in-breaking and out-breaking routes as a particularly natural fit for Shough, but New Orleans can afford not to rush its first-round pick if the passing game continues to produce without him.

Tyson’s practice status after the Falcons game will provide the next meaningful marker. A window opening would start a three-week period for the Saints to decide when he is ready for the active roster; another delay would reinforce that his debut remains a longer-term question.
