On Sundays, Dave Flemming, who since 2003 has called San Francisco Giants games as one of the team’s play-by-play TV and radio broadcasters, will now be heard on NBC Sports as a part of the network’s MLB “Sunday Leadoff” games, NBC announced this week.

“Sunday Leadoff” is a traveling weekly broadcast exclusively on NBC Sports Network and Peacock, most of the time beginning about 9 a.m. Pacific.
Flemming’s debut on the show is this Sunday, when he will call the 9 a.m. matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates at Rogers Centre, according to a Tuesday NBC Sports news release. Flemming will join Matt Vasgersian and Jason Benetti on the “Sunday Leadoff” broadcast team.
Flemming over the past 20-plus years has called Giants games, splitting broadcast time between the radio for KNBR 680 and on TV for NBC Sports Bay Area, a regional affiliate.
“I’m excited to join NBC Sports’ baseball coverage,” Flemming said in the news release. “I’ve really enjoyed NBC’s approach to covering the sport I love so far this season and I’m very happy to be a part of it.”
‘I think I’ll be here for a long, long time’
Flemming, 49, began with the Giants in 2003 as a part-time partial cover for former announcer Lon Simmons, who retired after the 2002 season. Since beginning full-time in 2004, Flemming’s profile has continued to rise, but he has stuck with the team despite increasingly taking national broadcast roles including Pac-12 college football games and ESPN’s “Monday Night Baseball” broadcasts in the 2010s.
“I think I’ll be here for a long, long time,” Flemming told the San Francisco Chronicle in 2018, dispelling rumors he would leave San Francisco for a bigger market due to his talent.
Flemming, along with the rest of the acclaimed Giants broadcasting team — Mike Krukow, Duane Kuiper and Jon Miller — all signed multiyear contracts in early 2025, according to reporting from SFGate.

But that loyalty hasn’t stopped Flemming from pursuing other opportunities, occasionally pulling him from his standard Giants duties.
Flemming has called a variety of sports for ESPN, beginning with college basketball in 2010, but expanding to college football, MLB, the Little League World Series and golf majors.
“Dave is an elite play-by-play announcer whose knowledge and love for the game comes through in his storytelling and big-game calls for national and local audiences,” NBC Sports Executive Producer Sam Flood said in Tuesday’s news release. “We are excited to have Dave join our lineup.”
Who will fill in for Flemming?
With Flemming presumably missing most Giants games on Sundays for his new gig, it is unclear who will fill in for him. According to SFGate, the Giants did not directly address questions about who will fill in for Flemming, but sent a statement praising his talent.
“Dave is an integral part of Giants baseball on KNBR and NBC Sports Bay Area,” the statement by spokesperson Shana Daum said, according to SFGate. “We are thrilled that baseball fans across the country will now also get to experience his special talent that we all love and appreciate.”
The last “Sunday Leadoff” game this season is set for Aug. 30, according to MLB. Thirteen of the 18 games under the show’s contract, some of which have already happened, have start times between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Pacific, while the other five have start times between noon and 1 p.m. Pacific.
