Florida man jailed over $2.4k bill at luxury Keys resort charged to someone else

A man was arrested Saturday for charging more than $2,400 in hotel services plus goods — “drinks, food, shirts, hats and other sundries” — to another person’s room at an Islamorada resort, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

Last year, deputies were called to the Cheeca Lodge & Spa after a guest spotted nearly $900 in hotel splurges that had been charged to her room without her knowledge or consent, according to the sheriff’s office. Resort security then found more illegal charges, so the hotel issued guest reimbursements for a total of around $2,419.

Malachi Ethan Keasler, 26, of Clearwater, is accused of grand theft, possession of another person’s identification and scheme to defraud in connection with the theft, the sheriff’s office said. He is the second person to be charged in the case. Emma Camille Wallace, 24, of Hollywood, was arrested in December 2025 on similar charges.

Keasler doesn’t have an attorney listed yet. Wallace’s attorney didn’t immediately respond Sunday to a request for comment; her probable cause affidavit, which details the case, was sealed from the public, court records show.
