UCLA topped Oregon, 17-15, on Saturday.

Oregon went for a two-point conversion down two points with about 2:00 to play. The ball was spotted at the 1.5-yard line, following a facemask penalty from UCLA. However, the Big Ten has admitted that the ball should’ve been spotted at the half-yard line.

The Big Ten announced that the referees made a mistake.

“Following the first attempt that resulted in a personal foul penalty for a facemask on the UCLA defense, the ball was spotted for the second attempt half-the-distance to the goal from the original line of scrimmage of the first attempt,” the Big Ten’s statement read.

“Per rule, the ball should have been spotted half-the-distance to the goal from the end of the run of the first attempt. The Big Ten has been in contact with its officiating team from Saturday’s game regarding the error and will continue to emphasize consistent application of the playing rules.”

Oregon failed on its two-point attempt, but forced a quick 3-and-out by UCLA to get the ball back.

UCLA, though, was able to hold on for the win, as the Bruins improved to 5-0 on the season with the victory, surging up the Top 25 rankings. Oregon, meanwhile, dropped to 3-2 on the year with the loss.

The Ducks are set to host Nebraska in a Saturday night game in Week 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 p.m. E.T. next Saturday night, October 17. The game could pit Dylan Raiola against his old team, though the Ducks quarterback was benched in Saturday afternoon’s loss to the Bruins, after throwing two interceptions.
