The Houston Texans finally have a win to celebrate. In a convincing 26-3 road victory over the Tennessee Titans, C.J. Stroud accounted for two touchdowns, while Houston’s defense controlled the game after allowing an opening-quarter field goal. The Texans improved to 1-4, ending four-game losing streak.

The win brings some relief, but the team cannot afford to let up. They must build on this result rather than treat it as a turning point by itself. Houston requires better support for Stroud, improved production on the ground and a defense that continues to generate pressure. The Week 5 win showed what this team can do when all three phases contribute, but the Texans must repeat that effort against stronger opponents.
The path to the postseason remains open, though Houston needs to start winning regularly to close the gap. Their real test comes in Week 6, when the Texans will look to turn that momentum into another victory.
Jacksonville Jaguars (4-1)
The Jaguars beat the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 in London, improving to 4-1 and extending their winning streak to three games. Cam Little’s 57-yard field goal in the closing seconds sealed a dramatic victory. Jacksonville has scored 123 points and allowed 70, giving it a plus-53 point differential, the best mark in the division.
The Jaguars have created separation, but the job is far from done. Jacksonville’s 4-1 record gives it a two-game lead over Indianapolis and a three-game lead over Houston. Its offense and defense have produced more consistent results than those of its division rivals. The challenge now is to maintain that form as the schedule gets tougher and avoid giving the chasing teams an opening.

Indianapolis Colts (2-3)
The Colts lost 34-22 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5, dropping to 2-3. Their offense has scored 124 points through five games, slightly more than Jacksonville’s 123, but the defense has surrendered 138. That minus-14 point differential highlights the problem: Indianapolis has shown it can score, but it has not consistently stopped opposing offenses.
The Colts remain Jacksonville’s closest challenger. Despite the latest defeat, Indianapolis sits second in the AFC South and has a 1-0 record in division games. That gives the team a useful starting point in the divisional race, but it needs to tighten up defensively and stop dropping games against non-division opponents. The gap to Jacksonville is manageable, though another loss could make the chase more difficult.
Tennessee Titans (0-5)
Tennessee fell 26-3 to Houston at Nissan Stadium, extending its losing streak to five games. The Titans managed just 187 total yards and failed to score after their opening-quarter field goal. Quarterback Cam Ward finished with 170 passing yards and an interception as Houston’s pass rush repeatedly disrupted the offense.
Tennessee needs answers on both sides of the ball. The Titans have scored only 58 points and allowed 109 through five games, leaving them with a minus-51 point differential. They are also 0-3 at home and 0-1 in division play. The season is still young enough for improvement, but Tennessee needs better offensive execution and more defensive resistance to avoid falling further behind its AFC South rivals.
