The Indiana Fever will face major decisions this offseason. Caitlin Clark expressed her willingness to help the front office with its recruitment plan by welcoming free agents when they visit.

The three-time All-Star guard emphasized that she and Aliyah Boston maintain constant communication with Fever general manager Amber Cox. Clark revealed that they have had conversations about personnel.

“That’s the responsibility of specifically, probably me and [Boston] at this point as kind of the two leaders of this team,” Clark said

“I think us and Amber, we always have open dialogue about players. And I think this probably goes for any team sport. You hear rumblings about how players are in the locker room or what they’re like to play like or play with and things like that. And that’s all helpful to the GM or whatever it is.

“So you share those type of things about who you think we can get, or whose play style will fit next to whoever it is and what positions are most important for us to get. Those are definitely conversations we have with Amber.”

Clark emphasized that it’s Cox who makes the final call, but the former Iowa star also highlighted how the front office holds her opinion in high regard.

“It’s also helpful to [team president Kelly Krauskopf] and Amber to hear our voices and to know certain things, or know what we think might work or not work, or whatever it is,” Clark continued.

“So I’ll continue to use my voice in that the best I can, and continue to help free agents want to come here or show them around if they come on a visit.

“It was interesting because my first year we had some of those, and then my second year, after last year, with the CBA, nobody really took visits to figure out where they wanted to go. So there wasn’t a whole lot of recruiting of free agents other than texting and calling.

“I think this offseason will be a little bit different, and I’ll be very involved in that.”

Mitchell will enter unrestricted free agency. However, Clark has been vocal about wanting to continue sharing the backcourt with the four-time All-Star. Sophie Cunningham is also set to become a free agent, giving the front office another big decision to make.

The Fever could have a new-look roster next season, especially after an early playoff exit. Clark and Indiana pushed the Las Vegas Aces to a winner-take-all Game 3. However, they failed to dethrone the defending champions, losing 94-83 at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

The series defeat highlighted areas that Cox and the front office may seek to address. Re-signing Mitchell will be huge, but the Fever could look to add more weapons to give themselves the best chance to win a title soon.

Either way, Clark plans to be significantly involved in the Fever’s offseason moves.
