The USMNT came from beating Senegal 3-2 last weekend, and the team impressed many fans. Christian Pulisic was one of the best on the pitch after ending his goal drought in 2026 and scoring the USMNT’s seocnd goal of the game.
Pulisic also provided an assist when he gave a perfect pass to Sergino Dest, who scored the opener for the USMNT over Senegal.
Pulisic’s goal drought was concerning for USMNT fans, as the World Cup is only days away, but his goal against Senegal makes some fans believe he is arriving at the tournament with much more confidence.
Despite his goal, USMNT legend Tim Howard still believes the goal against Senegal will not stop the criticism the USMNT forward receives.

Tim Howard on Christian Pulisic Criticism
On the Unfiltered Soccer Podcast, Tim Howard reacts to Pulisic scoring against Senegal in the previous friendly match.
After the match, Pulisic addressed the criticism he has received due to his goal drought this year, and the USMNT star was hopeful that the criticism would stop after his goal against Senegal.
Pulisic said, “It’s just great to score again. Hopefully, people can stop talking about it. I feel great.”
Howard reacted to Pulisic’s comments and set the tone of what he thinks is reality. Howard said, “He is not living on this planet if he truly believes that one goal after a very long drought is going to ‘people can stop talking about it’, they won’t…If you weren’t the best player and potentially one of the USMNT all time greats, they will stop talking. That’s not you. And this is just how it goes.”
