49ers’ George Kittle shares a warning for Brandon Aiyuk’s next team

George Kittle had something to say about the ongoing saga between the San Francisco 49ers and estranged wideout Brandon Aiyuk.

Before the hosts on the “Pardon My Take” podcast could even ask a question on the subject to end the roughly 30-minute interview segment, Kittle all but prompted them to do so, offering some praise for Aiyuk but also words of warning for any teams interested in picking him up.

“He’s still got it. Or, at least, that was eight months ago. So, I don’t really know,” Kittle said in the podcast, posted Monday. “You guys have fun with that, I guess.”

Kittle summed his analysis up by calling Aiyuk “an alien,” seemingly alluding to the good and bad.

Aiyuk’s recent social media saga, in which he has insulted the 49ers and seemingly expressed his desire to join the Washington Commanders, continued over the weekend, before Kittle’s interview was posted but after it was filmed.

In an Instagram story posted Sunday night that is now unavailable to view, Aiyuk yelled “Go Commanders! Go Commanders! Go Commanders! Raise Hail Take Command!” according to ESPN.

For some time, Aiyuk has alluded to his preferred destination being the Commanders, where his friend and Arizona State teammate Jayden Daniels plays quarterback. Previously, Aiyuk had posted photos in Commanders gear and only follows five accounts on Instagram — his wife, his personal brand, Adidas, the Commanders and Daniels.

49ers general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan have said Aiyuk doesn’t factor into the future of the organization.

Earlier in June, Aiyuk broke his silence by posting a pair of since-deleted videos on Instagram. In one, he alluded to the 49ers, apparently calling them synonyms of expletives and saying he would give them “the belt.” In another, he explicitly mentioned the team, calling them “dumb” for extending him and then angering him enough to make him leave.

“They mad at themselves, for real,” Aiyuk said in the video.

On “Pardon My Take,” one of the hosts, Eric Sollenberger (better known as PFT Commenter), who is a Commanders fan, suggested to Kittle that Aiyuk would be happier with Washington and stop posting similar videos on Instagram. The tight end didn’t appear to agree.

“I wouldn’t be happy either after a team paid me $130 million,” Kittle said.

Aiyuk, 28, hasn’t played an NFL snap since October 2024, when he tore his ACL in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In five seasons with the Niners, Aiyuk amassed 4,305 yards, 294 catches and 25 touchdowns.

While the 49ers’ ongoing dispute with the 2023 second-team All-Pro selection didn’t reach its current heights before the injury, the conflict largely began during extension negotiations ahead of the 2024 season.

After a contentious process, Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million contract with the 49ers in 2024, though the team voided guarantees in 2025 after he failed to report to the team facility. The 49ers later placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left team list in December 2025, as the relationship continued to deteriorate.
