Padres minors: Nick Solak, Will Wagner homer in El Paso loss; Luis Campusano catches nine innings

Both Nick Solak and Will Wagner homered in Triple-A El Paso’s 9-7 loss on Thursday to visiting Sacramento.

Solak’s home run was his 10th of the season and first since he joined the Padres, was DFA’d, selected free agency and returned to the organization on a new minor league deal.

Solak (.905 OPS) also singled and scored two runs.

Wagner (.791 OPS) drove in two runs on his fourth homer, his first since he was optioned back to El paso.

Mason McCoy (.789 OPS) drove in two runs on his eighth homer.

Luis Campusano went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts while playing all nine innings behind the plate in his second rehab game. He is working back from a broken toe and an oblique injury. Campusano also committed a throwing error.

Left-hander Jackson Wolf (5-6, 5.81 ERA) allowed six runs-five earned-on seven hits and three walks in six innings in the loss. He struck out five.

Missions 7, Amarillo 3: C Ethan Salas (.782 OPS) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a walk and a run scored. 2B Ryan Jackson (.672 OPS) went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. CF Kai Roberts (.606 OPS), DH Jake Cunningham (.990 OPS) and 3B Luis Verdugo (.705 OPS) each had two hits. Cunningham doubled. LF Tirso Ornelas (.797 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a triple and two walks. OF Kai Roberts stole three bases and set a Texas League record with his 28th straight steal without getting caught. RHP Victor Lizarraga (6.23 ERA) allowed two runs in five innings in the start.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (32-46)

Great Lakes 6, TinCaps 2: RHP Carson Montgomery (2-3, 3.86 ERA) walked three and allowed four runs in five innings in the loss. SS Rosman Verdugo (.731 OPS) doubled twice and drove in a run.

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (42-36)

Stockton 8, Storm 4: RHP Lan-Hong Su (12.71 ERA) struck out four and allowed four runs on four hits and two walks in three innings. LHP Zack Qin (3.00 ERA) walked three but turned in three scoreless innings. C Alcides Hernandez (.629 OPS) singled, walked three times, drove in a run and scored.

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (5-17)

Astros 10, Padres 1 (5): The only Padres hits were singles from 2B Ronnier Heras (.621 OPS) and 1B Sebastian Nadales (.760 OPS). RHP Rafael Torres (0-3, 11.17 ERA) allowed eight runs in 1⅔ innings in the start.

ROOKIE DSL GOLD (19-4)

Padres 5, Reds 4: SS Joniel Hernandez (.973 OPS) drove in two runs on his second homer. 2B Yorvin Morla (.904) went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. LHP Yunny Tovar (1-0, 6.92 ERA) allowed an unearned run in 3 ⅓ innings in relief in the win.
