The Boston Celtics shocked the NBA world on Wednesday by trading Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. ESPN’s Shams Charania said Boston was “full-blown shopping” Brown despite him averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game this past regular season.

During a recent episode of his self-titled podcast, Cowherd said Brown’s trade value wasn’t as high as people thought it’d be because he has a “disease” where he believes he’s the smartest guy in any locker room.

“I had two NBA sources … two people in the league, one an executive, one a scout, say that Jaylen Brown has – it’s a disease,” Cowherd said. “He suddenly thinks he’s the smartest guy in every room he’s in … You make a lot of money, suddenly you’re absolutely sure, you don’t wanna listen to your bosses, you don’t wanna listen to consultants, you don’t wanna listen to teammates.”

That remark didn’t sit well with Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell, who fired back at Cowherd on social media.

“Critique basketball all you want… but disease is insane…,” Mitchell wrote. “We gotta stop letting people just say whatever… cmon man.”

What does Jaylen Brown have to say?

During his Twitch stream on Thursday night, Brown addressed Cowherd’s remarks the only way he knew how.

“No offense to everybody in sports, but the bar is [expletive] low,” Brown said. “You know what I mean. The bar isn’t that high. People need to take that into consideration.”

This response from Brown has apparently won over some NBA fans on social media.

We’ll see if Cowherd continues this feud on Friday or let’s Brown get the last word.
