The New York Yankees recalled right-hander Angel Chivilli from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before Sunday’s series finale against the Minnesota Twins, the club announced. To make room on the active roster, New York optioned right-hander Brendan Beck back to Triple-A after his 87-pitch spot start on Saturday.

Chivilli, 23, returns to the Yankees after making two relief appearances earlier this season.
The Dominican Republic native was originally signed by the Colorado Rockies as an international free agent during the 2018-19 signing period and was acquired by New York earlier this year in a trade that sent first baseman T.J. Rumfield to Colorado.
Prior to today’s game, the Yankees recalled RHP Angel Chivilli (#57) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The right-hander has impressed at Triple-A this season, posting a 1.08 ERA with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to earn another opportunity in the majors. In his previous stint with New York this year, Chivilli pitched 2 1/3 innings across two relief appearances, recording a 3.86 ERA with three strikeouts.
The Yankees made the move after Beck absorbed 87 pitches over 3 2/3 innings in Saturday’s loss, leaving the bullpen in need of a fresh arm. Chivilli joins the relief corps as New York continues to navigate its pitching depth following Carlos Rodón’s placement on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation earlier this weekend.
Known for a fastball that sits around 97 mph and a swing-and-miss slider, Chivilli has emerged as one of the Yankees’ more intriguing bullpen options. He previously ranked among Colorado’s top prospects before joining New York and already occupies a spot on the club’s 40-man roster.
The Yankees entered Sunday’s finale with a 49-39 record, sitting second in the American League East while looking to secure the series against the Twins. Chivilli now has another chance to contribute as New York continues to manage its pitching staff heading into the second half of the season.
