Aftershock, the yearly event that bills itself “the West Coast’s Largest Rock, Punk & Metal Festival,” is back.

The festival will take place at Discovery Park, starting on Thursday, Oct 1 and ending on Sunday, Oct. 4. Gates will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m on Sunday.
Last year, Aftershock had more than 160,000 attendees. This year’s event features more than 140 artists, its biggest line-up to date.
With performers ranging from My Chemical Romance to the Wu-Tang Clan, Aftershock 2026 is likely to draw big crowds. City leaders announced road closures, bike path detours, and other information for those navigating to the event or around it.
What roads are closed in Sacramento during Aftershock?
Garden Highway, from the I-5 northbound on ramp and the I-5 southbound off ramp to Truxel Road will be closed from 8 a.m to 1 a.m., Thursday Oct. 1 through Sunday Oct. 4.
Jibboom St., from Railyards Blvd. to Richards Blvd., will be closed from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., Thursday Oct. 1 through Sunday Oct. 4.

Which bike paths are closed in Sacramento during Aftershock?
Aftershock is taking place within Discovery Park. The section of the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail (or the American River Bike Trail) running through the park will be closed starting at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The trail will reopen on Monday, Oct. 5, at 5 a.m.
Sound checks and community hotlines
Several city officials, in the days leading up to Aftershock, shared information on social media about other possible impacts of the festival. For example, those living and working near Discovery Park are likely to hear sound checks before the event.
Aftershock also has a community hotline that will be active during the days of the festival at 916-36-4397, for “questions, comments or concerns related to sound, traffic or other festival impacts.”
