This is when the college football season kicks into overdrive. Here’s our quick analysis of the biggest games of the day, including Oregon at USC, Oklahoma at Georgia, Ole Miss at Florida, Michigan at Iowa, and Texas at Tennessee.

It Wasn’t Pretty, but Texas Survived Tennessee
What Happened? Texas 20, Tennessee 17
Raleek Brown scored first on a short touchdown run to give Texas an early lead. Tennessee fought back to tie it at ten on a 48-yard punt return for a score by Qua Moss, and then Texas went to work. Brown capped off a terrific Longhorn drive with a four-yard touchdown run for a 20-10 lead.
The Vols got a late Mike Matthews touchdown catch and Tennessee recovered the onside kick, but penalties and mistakes proved costly. Tennessee couldn’t get into field goal range, and after a slew of mistakes, could only muster one late throw into the end zone that was broken up.
How did Arch Manning do under the pressure? More than fine, considering he was sacked six times, completing 14-of-19 passes for 201 yards and a pick. On the road against a school where his uncle is an iconic legend, with the President of the United States in attendance, and, oh yeah, that team on the other side with one of the best defenses in the country, Arch was calm, measured, and he got the job done. The stats might not be amazing, but he did his job.
Now what for Texas and Tennessee? The Texas win over Ohio State was fantastic, but it was helped by a missed Buckeye field goal. This solidified the Longhorns as the No. 1 team, and now it gets a break with Oklahoma and the Red River Rivalry up next, followed by five straight games against ranked teams.
Tennessee is still okay, with winnable games against Auburn and Arkansas before hosting Alabama. It’s still deep in the mix for a 10-2 season – at least – and a College Football Playoff spot as long as it takes care of its home games.
