The skate park in central Davis’ Community Park will reopen on Friday, Sept. 18. The city will host a ribbon-cutting event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. featuring vendors, music and merchandise.

The skate park, which opened more than three decades ago, closed for renovations in March after years of planning. The city finalized the design with builder Grindline Skateparks in February.

The company, which has designed and built more than 350 skate parks worldwide over the past 30 years, was selected over two other bidders.

The $1.2 million renovation was paid for with capital improvement funds, park impact fees and community fundraising. “The park symbolizes a true community build,” the city said in its announcement.
