Fresh off his first win for the team since 2024, Deshaun Watson is hoping to do something that he hasn’t done since 2023: Win back-to-back games. He gets his chance when the Cleveland Browns host the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Watson was asked what his message to the fans is after his heroics in Week 2. The Browns QB has found any fan support hard to come by, but made it clear that he’s still determined to win games for them.
“Ready to get this big dub for the city of Cleveland,” Watson proudly replied.
Doubters Weigh In
NFL fans aren’t nearly as convinced as Watson that the Browns are due for a second straight win though. Many are writing off the Browns’ Week 2 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a fluke and believe that the Carolina Panthers will be a much tougher test.
“I think people are underestimating just how bad the Tampa Bucs were on defense. A team with MID defense is going to shut Watson’s dink and dunk game,” one user remarked on X.
“The Panthers only gave up 3 points in their last game. Deshaun will be exposed against normal competition once again like in Game 1,” wrote another.

“Are you ready to be booed by close to 70k people is the question? Because you certainly didn’t handle 7k very well,” a third wrote.
Not everyone is explicitly rooting for Watson to fail. They simply don’t want one of their many losers to have as much bad baggage as he does.
If the wins do start stacking (which has not happened since Watson joined the team in 2022), fans might finally embrace him.
