Since 2013, Sacramento’s signature gala has been the Tower Bridge Dinner. The event, which celebrates local cuisine and all things farm-to-fork, occurs yearly on the Tower Bridge spanning the Sacramento River.

Not to be outdone, Folsom had its own dinner on a bridge.
Sunday night, Choose Folsom hosted the inaugural Dinner on Rainbow Bridge to honor 80 years since it became a city, as well as the nation’s 250th birthday. The event took place on the temporarily-closed, circa-1919 Rainbow Bridge across the American River.
Tickets sold for $350, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to support Folsom’s Twin Lakes Food Bank. Earlier in August, Choose Folsom launched a ticket raffle, where winners could purchase two tickets.
Chefs and restaurants from Folsom and the surrounding area provided the culinary offerings for the 300 attendees. The three lead chefs included Nixtaco’s Patricio Wise, Vacanza Romana’s Devin Dedier, and Nick Blessings of Scott’s Seafood Roundhouse.
The menu consisted of three courses and dessert, along with appetizers from six local restaurants. The first course, from chef Blessings, was yusheng, a raw fish salad enjoyed by the Chinese community in Southeast Asia. Blessings’s version consisted of tea-cured steelhead trout, rice noodles, pickled stone fruit, and vegetables.

The second course, via Dedier, was Ditalini delle Colline, a homemade corn pasta with a three-meat, adobo-laced braise. The main course, from Nixtaco owner and executive chef Wise, was roasted duck breast with mole negro.
Along with the meal, the event featured a 10-minute evening drone show, with 250 drones displaying patriotic imagery. “We were incredibly pleased with how the evening came together,” Jennifer Cliff, Consider Folsom’s VP of Marketing and Communications, said in an email. “It was such a special setting, and seeing guests gathered around one table on Rainbow Bridge made for a pretty remarkable celebration of Folsom.”
However, it’s still unknown whether the Dinner on Rainbow Bridge will return for a second year in 2027. According to Cliff, there are “some unique logistical complexities involved with closing Rainbow Bridge and the surrounding roads, so there is quite a bit that goes into making an event like this possible.”
“We’re going to take some time to evaluate this year’s event and explore every possibility for bringing it back in the future,” she said.
