Trophy Club, the once-exclusive bar attached to the downtown indoor mini-golf and sports bar Tipsy Putt, is undergoing a transformation. Co-owners Brandon and Jenny Robinson have lofty goals for the space.

The bar started out as a members-only speakeasy concept. That was disrupted almost immediately by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Since we emerged from the pandemic, Trophy Club hasn’t had a true identity. So we decided this year we’re gonna open it up. We would like to make it an exclusive cocktail lounge experience. Our goal is to make it a top 50 bar of the world,” Brandon Robinson said.
The World’s 50 Best Bars is a curated list by British media company William Reed. Bars are selected on a variety of criteria including decor, creativity and customer service. It also issues 50 Best lists by region. It tends to favor bars with clear themes. The current top bar is Roman-themed Bar Leone in Hong Kong.
Robinson notes that 50 Best has overlooked Sacramento in the past, but now that Michelin has taken notice, it may be the city’s time to attract more accolades.
In keeping with its sister business, Trophy Club will dig deep into its golf roots.

“We still want to keep it on the country club side. It’s Hollywood meets golf, kind of mid-century modern,” he said.
A private event Friday evening marks the kickoff of the new club, but minor renovations will continue for the next couple of months. So far the old booths have been removed and new seating installed, the space has been painted, much of the lighting has been replaced, and the sound system has been updated. Yet to come is new custom wallpaper in a metallic gold motif and new artwork.
Although Trophy Club is positioning itself as a luxe destination, the menu will feature some newly reduced prices on cocktails. The Naked and Almost Famous, with mezcal, Strega, Select Aperitivo and lime, will be $11, and the Bramble VSOP, with D’ussé VSOP brandy, Cassis de Bourgogne, blackberry, lemon and honey, will go for $13. Both were previously $15.
“We want to make sure that two people can go out, have two great cocktails and enjoy the ambiance and the experience and with tip and tax and everything all inclusive come in under $30,” Robinson said.
Reservations will be available via Tock as of Aug. 11, and the Robinsons plan to open Trophy Club seven days a week as of October. The bar is currently closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
