A team desperate for some good news at just the right time got some on Monday.
The 0-1 New England Patriots, opening their prep week for Sunday at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, welcomed running back TreVeyon Henderson back to the practice field on Monday.

Henderson, the second-year man out of Ohio State, had not been seen in practice since August 24 and had been nursing an ankle issue.
Explosive plays are needed
For a team that lost its most explosive – or for that matter only other explosive – player for at least four weeks and potentially more when A.J. Brown suffered a high ankle sprain in the loss at Seattle, Henderson’s big-play-capability could be a huge factor vs. the Steelers and beyond.
“Ben (Brown) and TreVeyon will try to do some stuff today and see where they are,” said coach Mike Vrabel before practice.
“Obviously, we would love to have TreVeyon.”
As a rookie, Henderson led the Patriots in rushing with 911 yards but lacked the consistency and saw his contributions wane down the stretch and through the playoffs, where he carried 30 times for 76 yards total in four games, catching just five postseason passes for 33 yards.
A threat through the air
His work catching the football could be huge with no Brown and the rest of the receivers asked to move up in the rotation.

Henderson had a quiet summer at training camp until getting injured.
Without him a week ago, Rhamondre Stevenson was asked to carry the load almost exclusively. He played 60 of 71 offensive snaps (85 percent) on Wednesday night in Seattle.
Easing Rhamondre’s work load
Lightening the six-year veteran’s load is a must for this team. Stevenson carried only 130 times during the 2025 regular season and it showed in the playoffs where he raised his game. He averaged 3.7 yards per carry in the four postseason games.
Brown adds interior insurance
Brown, the reserve offensive lineman and top sub at both guard spots and center as well, has been missing since the final preseason game against the Colts.
Now in his fourth pro season, Brown will be valuable insurance, having filled in admirably, especially in 2025 where he played in all 17 regular season games, starting four.
