The decision paid off as Freeman snapped a 3-for-30 slump with three hits in the Dodgers’ win.
Freeman credited a mechanical adjustment with helping him find a better swing. More importantly, he said the change allowed him to play without feeling pain in his right knee.
The 37-year-old entered Tuesday batting .296 with 16 home runs, 66 RBI, 32 doubles and a .373 on-base percentage across 143 games this season.

His recent knee issues had affected his production, particularly during August. Freeman batted .252 with one home run during that stretch while continuing to deal with the discomfort.
The Dodgers have been managing several health concerns as they approach the postseason, making Freeman’s latest update particularly important for the lineup.
Los Angeles entered Wednesday at 92-59 and had already clinched a postseason berth. The Dodgers are trying to keep their key players healthy while preparing for October.
Freeman’s three-hit performance provided an immediate offensive boost, but his comments about his knee could be just as significant.
